Volunteer

Want to Volunteer? Volunteers are a major asset to our non-profit organization. They share in the everyday tasks and operations, helping us to continue providing services free of charge. If you’re interested, email me.  All volunteers are screened through an interview process and are subject to a background investigation.
(Past issues/poor decisions, do not disqualify you from volunteering.  Our safety policy requires that no child (student) will be in the supervision of just one adult (other than the parent or guardian) while on our premises.  We at Heavenly Hooves believe that our past does not determine our future, therefore everyone has the opportunity to help others)

• Instructor
  This volunteer position requires extensive horse experience, strong dedication, reliability, and a caring attitude towards children. Volunteer instructors hold as much responsibility as paid staff. They receive continuous training in SpiritHorse specific methods before, during, and after each session.
   
• Sidewalker
  In each riders’ curriculum, we require at least one parent to be a safety sidewalker. Some instances require an additional sidewalker, either because of the parents' or child’s physical abilities. First and foremost, a sidewalker's responsibility is for the rider's safety. They walk right beside the rider's ankle using the holds that the instructor has prescribed. They become an advisor to the instructor when it comes to communication with and understanding the rider. They also assist in mounting/dismounting. Please remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water to stay hydrated.
